2026 Village Hall AGM

This year’s AGM will take place on Monday 11th May starting at 7.00pm in the Village Hall.  This is your chance to have your say about the running of your Village Hall.  Everyone will be made very welcome.  At the AGM villagers will be informed of a proposal from the Village Hall Management Committee for the Village Hall to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).  All information to support this change will be given.  At the end of the discussion a vote will be taken which will hopefully give the authority for the Management Committee to proceed.

Our Village Hall is 100!!!!! Our lovely Village Hall celebrates 100 years of being used by Newton Solney villagers this year. We would like to mark this with a party; any suggestions please get in touch. If anyone has any photos of events at the village hall over the past few decades we would love to share them as part of the celebration. Could we please share either by email or by photocopies.

Newton Solney Horticultural Society

The next event is the Annual Plant Sale which will be held in the Village Hall on Saturday 23rd May commencing at 10am.  As always there will be a good variety of plants for sale at competitive prices, along with refreshments and a raffle.

Judging for the Best Front Garden and Hanging Basket/Planter competition will take place sometime in July.  Further details to follow but it’s never too early to start planning.  The Annual Village Show will be held on Saturday 22nd August.  Preparations are well under way and show schedules will be distributed in early July.  A few new people have volunteered to help on the day or be stewards but additional help is always welcome.  Please contract Andy Archer.

Newton Solney Community Party – Saturday 18th April

A big thank you to everyone who attended last month’s Community Party which was a great success.  Also, another big thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to set the hall up, provided refreshments, manned the various tables informing villagers about the wonderful groups that use the Village Hall, supervised the games and to everyone who contributed in any way to make the day such a fun and informative event.

Newton Solney Women’s Institute – April 2026

The next meeting of the Women’s Institute will be on Tuesday 9th May starting at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.  We have many activities and speakers for our meetings over the coming months including Tai Chi, a bowls session, The story of Two Crosses by Tim Coltman, just to name a few.  We continue to look at new and exciting opportunities for our members, and we are open to any suggestions.  Our age range is currently 40 upwards, however, we would be very pleased to see women of any age as we do endeavour to make sure there is something for everyone.

St. Mary’s Tuesday Lunch Club We all enjoyed our afternoon tea in the Church in April, due to the road closures, but we are back to our usual routine this month. We are meeting in the Village Hall on Tuesday May 5th at 1pm. Now that the warmer weather has arrived, we shall be serving a Ploughman’s / Salad lunch followed by a choice of desserts and tea/coffee. Don’t forget to contact Hazel (701244) to book and choose your menu if you have not already done so. We are looking forward to a friendly gathering once more.

Newton Solney Tuesday Club

For our April meeting, we re-located to St. Mary’s Church, due to the road works outside the Village Hall. We joined the Church Lunch group for an Afternoon Tea followed by an Easter Game of filling in the facial features of an Easter Bunny. There were prizes for the successful participants of small Easter Eggs for that quickest person to compete all the features by dice numbers, starting with a 6.  We played several games which was fun, mixed with a little bit of competitive but friendly rivalry.  The refreshments provided were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Special thanks to all those who helped to make the afternoon a success.
